Awareness Forum: Understanding & Overcoming Anxiety

This talk will cover basics about anxiety, from the normal anxiety experienced by all, to the persistent and intense anxiety characterized by an anxiety disorder. We will cover basics about Specific Phobia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder & Agoraphobia, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. What treatments are available? How can I support my loved one with anxiety? Questions & dialogue are welcomed. Kristin Furan, PsyD, LP. Dr. Furan completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology in 2004 from the MN School of Professional Psychology. She works in a group private practice setting in Savage, MN assessing and treating children, adolescents, adults, groups, couples and families with an array of presenting concerns. She has worked and/or trained in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, crisis assessment, a day treatment program for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, a neuropsychological hospital department, a family court evaluation service, and at the Minnesota Security Hospital with persons under civil commitment. She lives in Prior Lake, MN, though ventures to Crosslake as often as possible to enjoy the beauty of the area with her husband, three children and extended family.
