In Every Way
"You will be enriched in every way..." - 2 Corinthians 9:11a
In what ways have you been enriched in your life? Monetarily, Wisdom and Understanding, Experience or maybe given a chance when you didn't deserve one?
I had a friend in college that did a lot of drugs in high school and God took hold of His life his senior year. He then desired to seek out God's plan for his life (Jer 29:11-12), got married and quickly they had a son. He told me that sometimes he would just sit in front of this child and watched it play as a baby, the whole time my friend just sat in awe.
He had been through emptiness as a teen.
He had experienced more then he wanted his child too.
He was overjoyed by the grace of experiencing true fatherhood.
He had been enriched by this child and it led him to Glorify God.
"They will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and all the others," (2 Cor 9:13b)
One thing that working with students, adults and children that I desire for them more then anything is to be in Awe of God while reading His Word, or serving, worship or anytime. Being in awe of Our Creature is paramount to seeking His heart. Think about the antithesis of being in awe, generally apathetic, as a killer of seeking God. I would rather talk to an atheist about God then someone who just doesn't care. Therefore, when it comes to trusting God in our giving the struggle of being apathetic to His promises is dangerous.
We have read 2 Corinthians 9:7, "God loves a cheerful giver". However, our struggle is not pairing that with the promises that we can see as well from this passage. In the following passages Paul talks about these benefits that come along with our willing, sacrificial giving to Him:
- all grace abound to you (v.8)
- abound in every good work (v.8)
- will supply and multiply (v.10)
- will produce thanksgiving to God (v.12)
- overflowing in many thanksgiving to God (v.12)
- the surpassing grace of God upon you (v.14)
It is at this time that we remember this in context, He allows us to give and He blesses us to do more then we can for Him to be glorified. Our end game should never be self-focused, but doesn't our hearts leap for joy of what this looks like.
That is what God talks about when He says, "You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us wil produce thanksgiving to God." (2 Cor 9:11)
Take some time today to allow this to be in awe of Him.
